I’m going to be honest; if I couldn’t read while exercising then I probably wouldn’t exercise at all. Being able to read makes that part of my day one that I look forward to. You may find that a Kindle or another e-reader is easier to use while exercising. You’ll have to experiment and see what works best for you. With some careful thought you can combine exercising with your favorite hobby of reading.

If you do stationary or treadmill running then you can read while you work out. It’s important to note that you need to be cautious about reading while doing any type of exercise. Even when you’re reading you need to be alert to your surroundings. It may help to start jogging slowly on the treadmill and work your way up to running if you’re reading at the same time. It does get easier with practice.

This is something I do almost every day. If I’m walking, I’m reading. There are some tricks to this. You can use a treadmill or choose to stationary walk. You can also walk on a path if you’re careful to make sure the path stays clear. The important thing is not to tune out completely.
