1. Charity Event
How many of you have been involved in a charity event? In the UK we have Race for Life every year, which raises awareness and money for cancer. It's a fun event where wearing pink is mandatory and there are smiles on everyone's faces, even though it's for a serious cause. It's a way of giving cancer the middle finger but it's also a great way to meet new people and get fit in the process. Running a charity event is one of the fitness milestones to add to your list.
2. Try Something New
Trying something new is essential. Remember, if you ate the same things every day, your body would get bored and you wouldn't be getting a full range of vitamins either. It's easy to get stuck in an exercise rut but trying new things will keep you interested in staying active. Being fit and healthy doesn't mean you have to spend hours in the gym. For example, why not give rock climbing or abseiling a go? And if it scares you, even better, as you'll feel even more a sense of achievement!
Frequently asked questions
3. Mix It up
Your body will get used to the same exercises day in and day out. Mix it up with some different exercises to ensure that you're working a range of muscles and you're not being complacent with your exercise regime. A while ago, I found that I had been spending quite a while going from bike to cross trainer to weights and then I gave rock-climbing a go. Let's just say my legs were super sore for a week but it goes to show how you need to push your body to work new muscles every so often.
4. Get the Kit
Having the right gear is essential when it comes to fitness. This doesn't mean they have to be branded and flashy but it does mean they have to fit correctly. Having the right shoes will ensure you don't do yourself an injury and being fitted correctly for a sports bra will ensure that you have the right support! Treating yourself to a new set of kit is a great milestone.
5. Beautiful Bootcamp
Drop and give me twenty! Not really, but if you like being screamed at and need a little tough love when it comes to fitness, then a bootcamp might just be what you need. They come in so many shapes, sizes and varieties so you just need to choose which one is right for you and what your goals are. They don't have to be super scary either as there are many exercise-centered holidays you can choose from which don't necessarily involve being screamed at.

6. Perfect Personal Training
Having a personal trainer is also one of those things that you should try at least once in your life. I have had personal trainers in the past and they have been fabulous in teaching me the correct technique and motivating me when I have needed a little kick in the booty. The great thing about personal trainers is you can use them for as long as you need them. Some people need them for a little longer to maintain their training whilst others need just a few sessions to get them back on track.
7. Join a Club
Joining a club or team is another fitness milestone you have to try to achieve. Being part of a club or team will mean you're less likely to miss a session, even if you don't feel like going. Whether it's soccer, netball, canoeing or hockey, it's great motivation and you'll meet like-minded people in the process.
These are my favorite must-do fitness milestones which I am currently working through (I'm nearly there!) Do you have any others?
