1

Check in with Your Doctor

First and foremost, you want to check with your doctor before doing any new type of exercise. They’re the person to advise you of any precautions you may need to take because of any specific body issues you have. They can also give you some advice on what may be the best types of exercise for you. If you have any weight issues, they can give you some guidance on what range of weight loss to shoot for. You’ll feel better knowing your doctor’s helping you decide what’s best for your body.

2

Choose a Workout

Before you can work out you have to know what type of exercise you’re interested in. There’re so many different types of exercise you can choose to do. Think about what appeals to you, remembering any suggestions your doctor gave you. I enjoy walking, zumba and have recently been doing the Bikini Body Mommy Challenges. Everyone will have their own unique favorites.

3

Shop for Workout Wear

Is workout wear completely necessary? That’s negotiable. But it’s motivating to have something cute to put on when you’re exercising. You don’t have to spend a fortune, either. Wal-Mart and Target both have great options in workout wear.

4

Shop for the Right Shoes

Shoes are a necessity when you workout unless you’re doing some sort of exercise that you need to be barefoot for, which’s rare. A good pair of shoes is worth the price when it comes to working out. They’ll get a lot of wear and you need something high quality that’ll hold up. You also want to choose a shoe that offers you comfort and support. It’s time consuming but it’s worth it to do a little research on different shoes before you make a decision.

5

Check Workout Equipment

The workout equipment you need will vary depending upon the type of exercise you choose. You may not need anything more than a pair of athletic shoes. Other exercises will require more equipment. The workouts I’m currently doing require weights and a yoga mat. Making sure you have the equipment you need before you begin will save you a lot of frustration.

Find a Workout Buddy or Accountability Partner

Having a workout buddy or accountability partner is beneficial. It can be your boyfriend, a friend or a family member. This helps you stay on track. On days you’re just not feeling it, knowing that you have a workout buddy waiting for you to show up gives you the shove you need to make your workout happen. People who have a workout buddy or accountability partner are more successful at reaching their fitness goals.

Make Healthy Living a Lifestyle

Make a decision to make healthy living a lifestyle. You’re off to a good start with your decision to work out. Keeping it going will help you feel great and have a healthy weight. You can also work on eating healthy. Doing that in combination with exercising will double the benefits for you.
