If you’re like me, you often find yourself having those days when you don’t feel like working out. When I find myself in one of these slumps, I turn to one of these workouts. I love them because I know I’m at least getting a little bit of exercise in without completely forgoing a workout that day! If you’re looking for a workout or exercise routine to keep you active on the days when you don’t feel like working out, these exercises will help get you right on track!
I don’t know if it’s just the former dancer in me, or if everyone loves to do this as much as I do, but dancing is my answer when I don’t want to work out. Whether it’s searching YouTube for dance tutorials or simply turning on your favorite Beyoncé song and having a dance party for one around your bedroom, dancing is the perfect exercise for the days when you don’t feel like working out.
2. Try Yoga
Personally, I trick myself into doing yoga. I tell myself it will help me relax after a particularly long or stressful day when I just can’t find the energy to get a full workout in. While yoga definitely does help you relax, it can also be a great workout, especially on the days you can’t make it to the gym!
3. Do Your Regular in Shorter Intervals
On the days where I have time to work out but am just really not in the mood to, I try to bribe myself into working out. Try working out in shorter intervals than you usually would. If you usually spend an hour on the elliptical but just don’t feel like working out, cut your workout down to four 15-minute intervals. It’s the same amount of time spent working out, just less strenuous.
4. Walk and Talk
If you know you should make a few phone calls, turn it into exercise. Walk around your house while you catch up with your best friends. If you owe your parents more than a few phone calls, turn it into a weekly event, by calling your mom and talking to her while walking around your house. She’ll be glad you did!
5. Incorporate Exercise into Your Day
Change your daily lifestyle. If you normally take the elevator, switch to the stairs. If you can walk or ride your bike to classes or work, do so, instead of driving and dealing with parking. You’ll be amazed at how little lifestyle changes can help your body on a daily basis.
6. Work out in Bed
Yes, you can work out without leaving your bed. Thanks to Pinterest and other corners of the Internet, there is a plethora of awesome and strange exercises you can do from bed just waiting for you to find them!
7. Work out during Commercials
I’m sure you probably have a certain night (or two, or three, I’m not judging) that all of your favorite TV shows are on. Rather than skip your workout in favor of your favorite television shows, set up camp right in front of your TV and get to work during the commercials.
