1. Zumba
Zumba is a great way to start exercising because it doesn’t feel like exercise at all. If you go with friends, it may just feel like you’re hanging out with your girlfriends while you’re actually getting a workout in. Because of the fun music and dance moves, it feels less like a workout than a typical workout does.
2. Start Walking
If you’re looking to build your stamina before you really get into working out, start with walking. It’s a simple place to start, but the farther, longer, and faster you can walk, the easier you’ll be able to jump into other workouts.
3. Jump Rope
If you loved playing on the playground as a kid, pick up a jump rope. It’s a simple way to get your cardio in, but it doesn’t feel like a workout. Plus, it’s fast. In a few minutes you’ll be able to get a full workout in that will leave your heart racing and will make you burn calories!
Jumping rope isn't just child's play – it's a serious calorie burner and tone-upper for your entire body. Whether you're looking to slim down, maintain weight, or get those legs in shape, this exercise packs a punch. You can easily incorporate high-intensity interval training (HIIT) by alternating periods of intense jumping with short rests. Not to mention, it's highly portable and can be done anywhere. So, reclaim those nostalgic schoolyard vibes and give your fitness routine a refreshing twist. A session as short as 10-15 minutes can work wonders!
4. Try the Elliptical
Just like walking, the elliptical is a great way to build stamina. If you’ve recently joined a gym but don’t know which machine to start on, start with the elliptical. From there, you’ll be able to build a strong endurance and graduate to other machines!
Yoga has the power to connect your mind, body, and spirit, creating balance and harmony. To fully immerse yourself in the practice, you'll need a high-quality accessory; the best yoga mats suitable for your specific needs can enhance your yoga journey. Discover options for every yogi, from beginners to professionals.
5. Swim
If you’ve had to quit working out because of the strain on your body, swimming may just be the answer. It doesn’t put any stress on your body, it can be pretty relaxing, and it’s just as effective as other exercises you once loved. It’s not always an easy sport, of course, but it’s great if your body is restricting you from working out.

6. Join a Beginner’s Class
If classes are more your style but you’re nervous about signing up for one as a beginner, find a beginner class. There’s a starting point for everything, even classes. No matter what type of exercise class you’re interested in, there’s a beginning class for you to try out, and you may just make some new friends and workout buddies when you do!
7. Your Favorite Childhood Sport
I’m a big advocate for doing the sport or exercise that you loved as a child. Think about it-when you were a kid you didn’t consider sports to be exercise. You just loved what you were doing. You’d be surprised that it feels the same when you’re playing that sport as an adult!
What are your favorite exercises when you’re working on getting back into the routine of working out? It’s a tough thing to do, but when you do get back into it, you’ll feel even better! Let me know about your progress in the comments, and if you do any of these exercises!
