Do I Have to like My Workout?

I often have clients come to me because they cannot find a workout that they enjoy, and people often ask if they should like their workout. The answer is yes and no. It is helpful if you enjoy your workout but there are many days I do not enjoy my workout because it is so intense. I do however enjoy when I complete my workout and the last 10 minutes when I feel the burn and the endorphins (happy chemicals secreted from exercise) kick in. So make sure you push yourself and stay positive. Hope this answers one of your fitness questions.

How Often do I Have to Exercise?

Everyone is different based on their fitness goals, but if you are trying to lose weight, I recommend 4-6 days a week. Start out gradual and build yourself up to this. In these sessions you should be exercising for 45 minutes to 1 hour so you can get your body in fat burning mode and make sure you push yourself.

Do I Need a Trainer to Get to the Next Level?

As a certified trainer, I know that having a trainer can push you to amazing results and also give accountability to some people that crave this. However, if you can push and motivate yourself on your own, work out solo. Whatever you do, make sure you work hard. After all, this is a workout, right?

4

What Kind of Exercise Should I do?

Everyone is different based on their fitness level and fitness goals. I prefer to run for cardio and lift weights for resistance training. However, many of my clients like to play tennis, basketball, bike or swim. Find the workout that works best for you and make sure you push yourself.

How Often Should I Eat?

Often my clients come to me asking how often they should eat. The answer is not whenever you are hungry because this often is just not enough. Your body should be on a schedule just like an infant’s nap time, so the answer is every 2-3 hours. You should be eating small, easily digestible meals throughout the day so that you can achieve your fitness goals.

Do I Have to Take a Rest Day?

I can’t tell you how many times clients that are super motivated ask if they have to take a rest day. If you are in a habit of daily exercise, a day off may seem like the last thing you want to do. But a rest day will help your muscle fiber to heal, give you a mental rest and can actually increase your metabolism. So take one day off of rest a week. Even professional athletes take this rest, and so can you!

Do I Have to Sweat?

Often clients that are new to exercise question why they sweat so much in their workouts. And they even wonder if they have to sweat to get a workout. Well first off, sweating is your body’s way of removing toxins and this is healthy. If you are not sweating you are not exercising hard enough or you may be dehydrated. Some people do sweat more than others and this is based on how active our sweat glands are and genetics, but regardless you should experience sweating of some level when you exercise.

Hope these answers to some of your fitness questions will help you to achieve your fitness and health goals. So tell me, what are your fitness questions?
