Everyone needs a fitness day off, especially if you are an Olympian. By taking a day off, you will give your body a chance to heal and your torn muscle fiber an opportunity to rebuild itself. A day of fitness rest is an important part of your training and recovery that will help you to perform better at your next competition.
5 Drinking Plenty of Water
Drinking plenty of water will help your body to remove toxins, reduce inflammation and speed along the recovery process. If you do not drink enough water you can have severe cramping as your body is working to heal itself, so make sure you drink at least 10-12 glasses of water.
6 Eliminate Toxins
Refrain from drinking alcohol and caffeine as you recover from your hard workouts so you can speed up the recovery process. If you eliminate toxins you will have more energy as well!
7 Get Plenty of Sleep
Catch plenty of Zzzzzs the next few days so you can get your body back in fighting shape and you can heal well. This extra sleep will reduce your levels of the hormone, cortisol, which is a fat gainer, and it will help you to heal. Aim for 2-3 hours of extra sleep a night so you can recover effectively.
