I found that a weight lifting program helped me deal with major stress in my own life at many different times in life, and helped me improve my mental strength by improving my physical strength. By pushing myself in the gym, I was able to push through situations in life that caused me to enter a major depression at age 19. I also had to eat well and get rest, but lifting weights was the catalyst in the final stages of healing from my two year depression span. I find that today, anytime I suffer from mild depression, lifting weights always seems to help. You don't have to spend hours doing it either! Just 30 minutes a few times a week or 10-15 minutes a day is enough to reap the benefits!
