After a while, doing the same old exercises can get a little boring and repetitive, which is why it’s important to search for other efficient ways to work out. You don’t always have to be stuck at the gym for 2 hours in order to lose some weight because your everyday activities can burn just as many calories. So if you are avoiding gym or just not in the mood to work out, here are 7 efficient ways to work out without even considering it as a workout plan!
1. Volunteer Work
Believe it or not volunteering can be a lot of physical work. I volunteered with my friends to remove invasive species and weed out plants in our local park, and boy was I sore after. We spent about four hours digging and tugging at plants while still having fun. It was rough but we made great memories. It was a great way to spend some time with friends, help the environment and squeeze in a workout. So if you are looking for fun and efficient ways to work out, spend some time volunteering.
2. Get Active with Friends
One of the best forms of exercise is spending time with a group of friends in the park. You can break into teams and play soccer, volleyball and even tennis. Play some great social sports that build up cardio, strength and agility. I can guarantee you won’t even realize how much time has passed and how much you used your body for physical activities.
3. Go Roller Blading or Ice Skating
Another great way to spend time with friends or family is by going roller blading or ice skating. It’s a great way to burn off some calories, tone your glutes and legs and just have a fun-filled day. What’s interesting is that both of these forms of exercises can burn more calories and fat than swimming, dancing or hiking and anyone is able to take up roller blading or ice skating at any age and at any time of the year.
4. Go for a Bike Ride
What’s the point of going to the gym and using the cycles if you can bike outside and feel your hair blow in the wind? Biking relives stress, tones your body all over and gives you energy right before a long day. Not only that but you can bike while running errands, going to work or school, or while hanging out with friends.
5. Clean Your Entire House
Is your house looking a little untidy? Well that means it’s time for the easiest form of exercise and that is cleaning! Vacuuming your house or scrubbing your bathtub can speed up your heartbeat and burn a good amount of calories. You are killing two birds with one stone, so turn up the music and get started.
6. Walk Your Dog
When the sun is low in the sky, take a walk around your neighborhood or park with your dog. Walking your dog may not be the same thing as running a marathon, but it’s better than sitting at home and it’s great for those days when you just refuse to go exercising. You’ll be able to enjoy quality time with your dog, but still get some movement in. It doesn't take up much time and your dog will appreciate it too.
7. Jump on a Trampoline
Believe it or not, jumping on a trampoline may actually be one of the best forms of exercises. You can literally bounce your fat off! Jumping exercises can tone your body, build core strength and shred calories just as effectively as running. It’s not one of the conventional ways to work out but it’s fun and effective, so why not?
