There are many reasons walking is the perfect exercise and I will tell you why in these next few paragraphs. Walking is one of the best exercises that you can do for your body. People have been using this form of exercise for many years and there is a reason for that. It is tried and true. After you take part in walking daily for a few months, you will agree that there are many reasons walking is the perfect exercise.
1 It Isn’t Hard on Your Body
Walking is low impact. It is not as hard on your body as many other exercises are such as jogging or exercise classes. It doesn’t jar your body and doesn’t put you at as much risk for injury. It is relatively easy on your body and you can do it at your own pace. This is one of the top reasons walking is the perfect exercise.
2 Almost Everyone Can do It
Walking is so easy to do at your level that practically anyone can do it. If you can walk, you can walk for exercise. You can start at your own pace and walk on a flat surface or one with an incline. You can choose how long to walk for. This exercise is very easy to work to your ability and standards.
3 All You Need is Shoes
You really have all the equipment you need. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes and you are set to go. It is important to get shoes that support you well and will help you to be comfortable when you walk. Most of us have different needs than others when it comes to shoes. Many shoe stores are able to help you choose a pair that is best for your individual needs if you ask them for assistance.
4 You Can Multitask
One reason walking is my favorite way to exercise is that I can multitask while I do it. I can read a book, catch up on some shows that I missed or phone a friend to catch up. This is even an exercise that you can easily do with a friend. It is actually a great way to spend time together. There are many things that you can do while you are walking to save yourself time.
5 You Can do It Anywhere
Another great thing about walking is that you can do it anywhere. You don’t have to be at gym or in a class to get your exercise in for the day. You can walk outdoors in your neighborhood or while you are on lunch at your job. A treadmill works great for walking in the winter months, too. This is a very easy exercise to fit into your schedule because you can walk most anywhere.
6 It is Proven to Be Mood Lifting
Walking is good for you physically, but it is also good for you mentally. Walking has been proven time and time again to be good for your mood. It can actually help fight depression and anxiety. This is because walking helps to release endorphins (feel good chemicals), in your brain. This is probably why a lot of people take a good walk to clear their minds.
7 It Works
The simple truth is that walking is simple to do and it works. It works as far as your health goes. It helps you to be healthier, have a lower weight and a more toned body. Walking makes you feel good. Once you start this healthy habit, you may actually find that it is a bit addicting because of the benefits it gives to you.
