Workouts are beneficial to our health as well as our happiness. If you deal with any of these things that can get in the way of your workout, know that there are ways to work around them.

1 Your Job

One of the biggest things that can get in the way of your workout can be your job. It takes up a huge percentage of your time. It can make you feel a daily time crunch where you are scrambling to just make it home and get dinner done before your kids fall asleep. But there are ways to work around this problem. Maybe you could work out before you go to work or on your lunch hour. There is also the option of exercising after your evening activity rush.

Frequently asked questions

2 Your Family

As much as we love our families, they can be an obstacle when we are trying to get a workout in. They do need our time and attention but taking care of ourselves is a way we can make sure we are at our best for them. You can try to involve them by asking them to workout with you or doing something active as a family. Taking a walk or playing ball are great alternatives to your regular workout.

3 Lack of Motivation

This one is really hard to battle because it is all you. You have to just make a decision you are going to work out. Sometimes it can help to trick yourself into a work out. Start working out and tell yourself you can quit after ten minutes if you want. Most of the time you will find you are motivated to keep going by that point. I have used this trick before and it works.

4 Procrastination

Procrastination can get in the way of getting your workout in. For me, it is best if I work out early in the day. The later I wait, the less likely it is going to happen. But there are people that work out best in the evenings. You just have to do what works for you.

5 Feeling Inadequate about Working out

Sometimes people don’t want to work out because they feel they are too out of shape for it. And they may be, for some more advanced workouts. But you have to start somewhere and that is okay. Find a level of workout that you feel comfortable with. Even a walk counts.

6 Boredom

Working out can get boring, especially if you do the same workout day after day. If you are bored, make a decision to change it up. Take an exercise class. Buy a new dvd. Find a partner to work out with. Mixing it up keeps you in workout mode.

7 Fatigue

Sometimes we don’t work out because we are just so tired. But here is a secret. Working out can actually energize you. I have found that I am actually more productive on days I do work out rather than on days I don’t. This is true even though it means I am taking extra time out of my day for a workout.

These are some common issues that can get in the way of you getting your workout in. What gets in your way of a good workout? How do you deal with it?
