1

It Improves Your Physical Strength

One of the most obvious ways how lifting weights changes your body is it improves your physical strength, but more than just how much you can lift. It also improves how well you move and bend throughout the day, how capable you are of lifting things at work, and helps you be able to do more things around your home such as chores, yard work and if you have children, picking up your children and playing with them. It can also increase your physical strength in the bedroom if that’s something that you’re looking to improve too!

2

It Improves Your Posture

Lifting weights, when done correctly, can do wonders for your posture. Many women suffer a low belly pooch, which isn’t fat like they think, but poor posture. Lifting weights such as dumbbells when squatting, bent over rows, lunges and yoga can greatly improve your posture, increase your back strength, improve your booty’s strength, and simultaneously, improve your pelvic posture. When this happens, your belly pooch naturally subsides because your hips aren’t jutting forward, which appears as that lower pooch. You’ll also find you’re able to stand taller throughout the day due to a better posture. This happens by weights improving your back strength, as well as your upper body strength.

It Gives You a Slimmer Look

Lifting weights is one of the best weighs to slim down without even really losing weight. In fact, many people who lift weights gain weight, but lose inches. Muscle burns fat, but lean muscle also weighs more than fat. In fact, your metabolism improves all day, just by increasing your lean muscle mass. This means you'll burn more calories, even when you're resting. Don’t weight yourself, but instead, measure your size by your clothes. Lifting weights can seriously tone you down and thin you out all over, without you even dropping a pound. People who lift weights look leaner because their muscles are more prominent and flab takes a back seat!

4

It Takes Your Mind off Your Weight

This is my favorites way that lifting weights changes your body. Lifting weights is a great way to stop obsessing about your weight. How? Because lifting weights gives you confidence and sends a sense of accomplishment to your inner ego, which doesn’t need to diet to get that sense of accomplishment. Lifting weights also improves your mental health overall by improving blood flow and increasing serotonin levels, which improves your mood and boosts your confidence. This removes the stress associated with losing weight because you’re doing something productive and good for your body.

5

It Helps You Sleep Better

Lifting weights is a great way to get better sleep. It exhausts your muscles and increases their ability to adapt to stress. It also works your whole body, and our bodies need to be active to get the rest we need. If you try to go to bed after laying around all day, you’ll likely not sleep well. Your body needs to work itself to be able to sleep hard and deep. While rest is important, so is being active. Lifting weights is a great way to improve your body’s ability to rest when it needs to and you’ll wake up more refreshed the next day.

It Increases Your Adaptability to Stress

Trying lifting weights either before or after your cardio first thing in the morning. Chances are, you’ll be less stressed throughout the rest of the day, and adapt to daily stresses you encounter much better than if you don’t workout first thing. Lifting weights after work is also fine, and can help you sleep, along with wake up with more energy. Though you might be a little sore when you first start, this does get better! Either way, you’ll adapt to stress better overall once you implement this activity of lifting weights. It trains your brain to persevere and adapt, which relays over into other areas of your life.

7

It Helps Ease Depression

Perhaps my favorite benefits of ways that lifting weights changes your body is it helps ease and cure depression for many people. I found that a weight lifting program helped me deal with major stress in my own life at many different times in life, and helped me improve my mental strength by improving my physical strength. By pushing myself in the gym, I was able to push through situations in life that caused me to enter a major depression at age 19. I also had to eat well and get rest, but lifting weights was the catalyst in the final stages of healing from my two year depression span. I find that today, anytime I suffer from mild depression, lifting weights always seems to help. You don't have to spend hours doing it either! Just 30 minutes a few times a week or 10-15 minutes a day is enough to reap the benefits!

To lift weights efficiently and recover well, be sure you take care of your body nutritionally. You’ll need to eat clean, quality proteins and lots of antioxidant-rich foods like veggies, low-glycemic fruits like berries, and you can even add in superfoods if you want, though they aren’t necessary. Don’t diet yourself to death or you won’t have any energy whatsoever to lift weights. Also be sure to refuel afterwards with protein that is easily absorbed in the body, which helps your muscles recover and improves their strength as well. Good sources are raw plant protein powders, grass-fed whey protein powder, and easy to digest proteins like nonfat Greek yogurt. These will fuel your muscles and improve their strength, while also improving recovery. If you lift weights, what is your favorite benefit?

Hey girls, what do you think about curves?

You need healthy carbs, too. It helps muscle recovery.

I do Olympic weightlifting like clean and jerks, does it give the same benefits?

I also involve myself in weightlifting such as cross fit, and found it to be very helpful in muscle toning and happiness. It provides you with a better feel of accomplishment... I recommend it!

I love the ego boost when I increase my weight, and the differences I can see in the shape of my body 😄
