Zumba is a great way to start exercising because it doesnโ€™t feel like exercise at all. If you go with friends, it may just feel like youโ€™re hanging out with your girlfriends while youโ€™re actually getting a workout in. Because of the fun music and dance moves, it feels less like a workout than a typical workout does.

2. Start Walking

(Your reaction) Thank you!

If youโ€™re looking to build your stamina before you really get into working out, start with walking. Itโ€™s a simple place to start, but the farther, longer, and faster you can walk, the easier youโ€™ll be able to jump into other workouts.

3. Jump Rope

If you loved playing on the playground as a kid, pick up a jump rope. Itโ€™s a simple way to get your cardio in, but it doesnโ€™t feel like a workout. Plus, itโ€™s fast. In a few minutes youโ€™ll be able to get a full workout in that will leave your heart racing and will make you burn calories!

4. Try the Elliptical

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Just like walking, the elliptical is a great way to build stamina. If youโ€™ve recently joined a gym but donโ€™t know which machine to start on, start with the elliptical. From there, youโ€™ll be able to build a strong endurance and graduate to other machines!

If youโ€™ve had to quit working out because of the strain on your body, swimming may just be the answer. It doesnโ€™t put any stress on your body, it can be pretty relaxing, and itโ€™s just as effective as other exercises you once loved. Itโ€™s not always an easy sport, of course, but itโ€™s great if your body is restricting you from working out.

6. Join a Beginnerโ€™s Class

(Your reaction) Thank you!

If classes are more your style but youโ€™re nervous about signing up for one as a beginner, find a beginner class. Thereโ€™s a starting point for everything, even classes. No matter what type of exercise class youโ€™re interested in, thereโ€™s a beginning class for you to try out, and you may just make some new friends and workout buddies when you do!

7. Your Favorite Childhood Sport

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Iโ€™m a big advocate for doing the sport or exercise that you loved as a child. Think about itโ€”when you were a kid you didnโ€™t consider sports to be exercise. You just loved what you were doing. Youโ€™d be surprised that it feels the same when youโ€™re playing that sport as an adult!

What are your favorite exercises when youโ€™re working on getting back into the routine of working out? Itโ€™s a tough thing to do, but when you do get back into it, youโ€™ll feel even better! Let me know about your progress in the comments, and if you do any of these exercises!
