If you want a Hollywood body like your favorite stars have, then you have to check out these fabulous exercises celebrities swear by. I’m a huge fitness nut, and although I don’t spend hours in a gym everyday, I love keeping up with the fitness trends of celebrities and celebrity trainers. After all, if the exercises can keep the stars looking as amazing as they do, I figure they’re worth me giving them a shot at home. Many celebrities don’t do crazy workouts to get the bodies they have; they simply do effective ones that work quickly and efficiently. Check out these calorie-killing exercises that some of the hottest celebs swear by and you can rock your own star worthy figure right in your living room!
1. Hot Yoga
One of the most popular types of exercises celebrities swear by is hot yoga. I’m a huge fan of yoga, and although I don’t turn up the temps while I’m getting my downward dog on, I do love the mind and body benefits of this total body toning exercise. Celebs like Rebecca Romijn and Britney Spears are huge fans of yoga, along with Jennifer Aniston and others. I personally love yoga for the way it allows you to use your own body to create strength and muscle definition. By turning up the thermostat in your room, your body sweats more, burns more calories and even helps your body detox by sweating out toxins.
Brooke Burke is a big fan of total body toning exercises like lunges, which are great for the glutes. You can perform a variety of styles of lunges such as cross legged lunges, one legged lunges, reverse lunges, standard lunges, squat lunges and walking lunges. Lunges are great for toning your outer and inner thighs, your rear and your abs. They also help you improve your balance, which tones your overall back and core.
3. Circuit Training
Jillian Michaels is possibly one of the fittest people in Hollywood. The woman has got a seriously great booty and killer abs! She proves you don’t have to be stick thin to be super fit and I love her approach to fitness, which is quick and efficient. The mom of two says she doesn’t have tons of time to spend in a gym like she used to and she now relies on circuit training to stay super fit and save her time. Circuit training, which is high intensity training in a short amount of time, allows her to do that. To do this, perform various styles of exercises like jumping rope, squats, lunges, sit ups, push ups, bicycle crunches, and other types of body circuit training exercises in a quick series of 12 reps per exercise and repeat for 30 minutes. This keeps your heart rate up and keeps your body guessing. You can also do it anywhere, making it perfect for travel.
Madonna, Heather Morris from Glee, Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow are all fans of dancing to stay in shape. I'm on board since they all have the bodies to prove how effective this exercise is! To get in on the benefits, all you need is some music and a coordinating DVD if you don’t have your own moves. The Tracy Anderson Method, designed by Tracy Anderson, is a great place to start. I adore Tracy, who is a great celebrity trainer that can help get you started if you’re new to dancing for exercise. I love her Metamorphosis DVD series and her channel on YouTube, which teaches you several series of easy-to-learn dance moves that will burn fat quickly and efficiently. Trust me, you’ll sweat your booty off while still toning it in the meantime!
Alison Sweeney is best known for her recent weight loss after hosting The Biggest Loser for several years and redesigning her own life to get fit. Sweeney is a huge fan of using weights and total body toning exercises to lose weight. She likes moves such as jump lunges with a bicep curl, squats with weights, plank rows, rows and even using her couch for weight bearing exercises like chair dips, lunges and more.
Lucy Liu, Miley Cyrus, Miranda Kerr and Madonna are huge fans of pilates, as I am myself! Pilates is a great way to tone your body, lengthen it, and shed fat fast, while still being relatively gentle on your body as well. I especially love doing pilates in conjunction with other forms of exercises like yoga and cardio for total body toning from all angles.
Jessica Alba is one of the latest stars to pick up the Paleo-inspired workout plan known as Crossfit. Though you don’t have to follow the Paleo diet to be a Crossfit junkie, the excruciatingly challenging exercises Crossfit brings, using extreme weights and total body exercises, are best supported by a high protein diet and diet rich in fresh veggies and fruits, which the Paleo diet emphasizes. Either way, Crossfit is a great way to get ripped, and shed fat fast. I don’t know about you, but if Jessica Alba swears by it, Crossfit obviously works!
Celebrities may have more money and access to trainers to give them the bodies they have, but many of them do their own thing and don’t even use trainers at all. I say, we can at least take what we can out of their workouts and bring them into our own lives however we can. Do you currently work out using any of these methods that celebrities swear by?
