Starting a fitness and health program can be tough but sticking to the program is even tougher, especially if you are lacking motivation. Motivation is what wakes you up and pushes you to do more. Motivation is what helps you to keep your eye on the prize, your goal. Motivation is what picks you up when you are down and just not feeling it. Day in and day out, again and again, you never stop because you are focused on your fitness and health goal. Yep, this is motivation. So do you have what it takes? If not, learn how to stay motivated with these trainer tips:

1. Set Small Goals

If your goal is to lose 30 pounds, do not focus on this number every day. As a personal trainer, I have found that people with the highest success rates set small achievable goals. So let’s focus on a goal of 2-3 pounds a week and celebrate with each and every victory. Remember, every step you take is one step closer to your goal!

2. Exercise Early

Haven’t you ever heard the saying that the early bird gets the six pack? Okay, I made that up, haha! But seriously, studies show that morning exercisers are more likely to stay on track. Why is this the case? Well, it is rare to find a 5am meeting that will force you to miss your workout. However, in the evening events come up, meetings are changed and sometimes you are just too exhausted from a long day. So get a head start on your day by exercising bright and early!

3. Get on a Schedule

If you exercise the same time every day, eat meals at similar times and get into new healthy habits, you will adopt a healthier lifestyle. So kick the bad habits to the curb and make some habits that can lengthen your life. You only have one life so make this the time to live it right!

4. Plan Your Meals in Advance

To stay motivated to reach your health goals, planning your fuel is essential. So plan your meals for the week, prepare before and be ready for a successful health week. Fail to plan and you will plan for failure. So plan for super results!

5. Buy New Workout Gear

Sometimes you may find yourself in a lull where you're not feeling the motivation to work out, but simple changes can give you just the pickup you need. Invest in a few new fitness tops to help you to get up and get going. Who says you can’t look good while working out? Definitely not I!

6. Download a New Playlist

If you find music lifts and motivates you, run with some new tunes. Download a playlist of your favorite songs and work out to the beat. This will help you to stay on track and make new goals. This will also take your mind off your heavy breathing as you get your sweat on!

7. Stay Focused

Remember, there is no goal that is too big or too small, but it is important to stay focused. If you focus on your goal, you will meet this in no time. Triumph over every small goal and keep going. And don’t stop because you deserve to achieve greatness!
