7 Benefits of Becoming a Certified Yoga Teacher ...

I’ve considered becoming a certified yoga teacher for almost 5 years now, and this year is the year I’m going to do it! If you love yoga and are considering doing the same, or even if you’ve never done yoga before, I’d like to show you the benefits of becoming a certified yoga teacher that have convinced me. Sure, it will take a lot of mind and body work, but the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Consider these benefits and if you’re a yoga teacher, I’d love to hear from you in the comments section!

In Tune with Your Body

Anyone who does yoga can become in tune with their body, and one of the benefits of becoming a certified yoga teacher, is enhancing that skill even further. My relationship with my body became so much better once I incorporated yoga into my life. Later, it even contributed to helping me heal from an eating disorder, believe it or not. If you’re on the fence about becoming a teacher, know this benefit of yoga is only taken further into effect.

Helping Others

One reason I’m considering becoming a certified yoga teacher is so I can help others. Sure, I can do yoga at home alone, but I’m not helping anyone else receive the benefits if I do this my whole life. In order to inspire others to do yoga, maybe you should just teach them yourself!

Enhance Your Skills

We could all stick with beginner yoga styles our whole life, but how fun would that be? Not very much! I don’t know about you, but it would be nice to tell someone you can do a handstand or a full crow, and not sound braggy about it. Becoming a certified yoga teacher would help you do just that. Then, you could even show them!

Job Skills

Another reason to become a certified yoga teacher is to give you more job skills. As a freelance writer, this is definitely a reason I’m considering becoming a freelance yoga teacher. Writing, cooking, and yoga are my top three passions, so why not give yourself a job in the field you love? That’s what life is all about!

Growth

Becoming a certified yoga teacher is incredibly tedious. You’re required to practice every day ( or at least 5-6 days a week) for a month as certification requires 200 training hours. This is not an easy task! However, this task will help you grow, not just physically in strength, but also emotionally. Yoga requires you to “deal with yourself” as I like to say, and by doing so every single day, you will grow in ways you never imagined.

Confidence

Yoga also gives confidence, but not an arrogant kind at all. Yoga is actually very humbling and it gives you a peaceful confidence you’ll carry in all areas of your life. It teaches you patience, strength and persistence, which all give you an inner confidence when you learn to master those skills. Becoming a yoga teacher only enhances that confidence even further, and it helps you pass along the gift to others as well.

Social Skills

One benefit of becoming a certified yoga teacher that I’m looking forward to is it is an opportunity to put your social skills to work. I’m a natural introvert and don’t flock to social settings very much, but yoga, I feel comfortable with. Becoming a yoga teacher can help you enhance your social skills with others, since you’ll meet people from all walks of life. This is such an important life quality to have, and one I’m looking forward to working for myself.

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

So glad you posted this! Like you, I've used yoga through my ED recovery and have seriously been considering becoming a certified yoga teacher. You raise some valid points that make me reconsider my hesitations. I started out by getting familiar with yogic thought (ie sutras, chakras, basic Sanskrit, etc) so that when I do start my training, it'll be that much easier.

I am a yogi as well and we teach in Asia . Would like to make more yogi friends across from my country . If it is ok w u.
